Effect of Bullying on Child Development

Chashmish you are so clever what do you think you will become Dr. Kalam??? Forget you are just idiot!!

Ohh!! you don’t know English language its so bad!!

You can not do simple maths problem so illiterate

What dirty handwriting do you have!!!

Different Name calling!!!

Like above examples are common in school bullying

Bullying has several appears:-

  • Verbal bullying :- like name calling, verbal threaten, making fun, making jokes etc
  • Physical bullying :- Pushing, pulling hairs, spitting, harming, damaging etc
  • Social bullying :- Rumors, not involving others in events, continuous complaining to others
  • Cyber bullying :- Asking for photos or morphing photos, cyber hosting etc

From these type of bullying find in the schools, colleges, social gatherings
Because of the bullying children get affect mentally as well as physically. Sometimes parents too responsible for bullying because of high expectations from their children.

How bullying can affect the children:-

  • Not self acceptance
  • Low self confidence
  • Low self esteem
  • Self harm and suicidal thoughts
  • Low social skills
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Panic attacks
  • Phobia
  • Traumas
  • Trouble focusing 
  • Behavior issues
  • Conduct Disorder

How can prevent the Bullying :-

  • If you find your child’s different behavior or some changes in their routine please ask them and talk with them.
  • Follow your child’s way of talking and try to learn your child’s expression and indirectly do connect with them and ask them about their difficulty
  • Ask them routine questions and take out their everyday  experiences to better understanding of their behavior
  • Make your child more comfortable with you so they can share their troubles with you first listen and react positively
  • Keep patience and keep faith on your child.If they are expressing themselves help them to express.
  • Develop more trust so they always come to you and feel safe.
  • Encourage your child to report their bullying to their nearer first trust worthy persons. Like for eg in schools principal, counsellor, teachers and parents.
  • Please seek professional help if it is out ofcontrol.
